Christian Counseling Training: The Theology of the Incarnation

Christian Counseling Training : The Theology of the Incarnation

Christian Counseling training should include a solid understanding of the Incarnation.  This way Christian Counselors can not only counsel but inform their spiritual children of the awesome nature of the Incarnation.  Through an understanding of it, one can appreciate the gift of Christ and his humble birth for our eventual salvation.

There are two aspects to the great mystery of the Incarnation of Christ.  First, one of soteriology and second, one of love.  Soteriology or the study of Redemption points out that after the sin of Adam, man a finite creature owed an infinite debt for sin.  Justice demanded this payment.  Until it was paid, man would be under the spell of Original sin and Lucifer.  This payment was a paradox though.  Man could not pay an infinite debt.  He was incapable.  The debt required a perfect sacrifice and victim but man had to offer it and he was far from perfect.  The answer was the Incarnation of the Logos.  God out of pure love and no obligation paid our debt for us.  He did this by becoming man.  The second person of the Divine Trinity, retaining his divine nature, took upon a human nature to redeem us.  In the Incarnation, a divine nature and a human nature become fused together without tainting the other.  Christ is both man and God; as man he becomes our representative high priest and as God offers the perfect sacrifice.   The second element of the Incarnation is love.  While many believe the Incarnation was merely a reaction to Adam’s sin, many also contend that the Incarnation regardless of sin was inevitable because of God’s love for us.  Because God is immutable, he cannot change or emotionally interact with us.  Through the human infusion into the Logos, Christ is also a human person who can love us as a fellow brother.  He can suffer with us, share emotions and love us.  God wanted to love us at every level and via the Incarnation he was able to accomplish this.

Through the Incarnation we see a logical step to resolve a paradox but also an ultimate gift of love.  In it, we understand a very important dogma that the early councils of Nicaea, Ephesus, Chalcedon and Constantinople taught against the various heresies of Arianism, Nestorianism, Monophysitism and Monothelitism—-namely that Christ through the Incarnation is fully God and fully human, a Divine intellect and a human soul and body.  In this way Christ is truly Emmanuel or “God among us”.  Christ is Born–Glorify Him

Stress Management Tips

Stress Management is Important!

Stress can be a major health risk if you aren’t careful. Many specialists have found that stress is generally a combination of physical factors and mental factors. People who live in high stress environments understand that it’s truly a balancing act to schedule everything perfectly; but in truth it’s not out of anyone’s reach to live a stress-minimum life. Ultimately stress management is important for a healthy life.   If you are overloaded with stress, consider taking stress management courses, in the meantime,  read through the tips and advice in this article and you can diminish the amount of stress in your life on the whole.

Tips for Stress Management

If you’re feeling stressed out, one fantastic cure is laughter. Do something silly with your family. Throw a water balloon. Watch a funny movie or some stand-up comedy. Laughing half an hour every day can have a dramatic improvement on your overall outlook and reduce your stress immensely.
Everyone smiles when they are happy. Try smiling when you are stressed out! It really can help you alleviate symptoms of stress and turn your day around. Just like it helps when someone you are around is in a good mood, much of your mood adjustment and stress level can be attained by redirecting your attitude and smiling!
A great tip that can help you fight stress is to take some time off and treat yourself. You can treat yourself in a number of ways. You can splurge and eat something delicious or you can buy yourself a nice piece of clothing that you’ve always wanted.
To get your mind off the stressful things in your life, engage in a hobby. A hobby is something that you enjoy and look forward to doing. When you set aside time for a hobby, you are giving your mind a chance to re-energize. After your mind is refreshed, you will be ready to face the rest of your day.
When you are dealing with a person who has high levels of stress you should know when to avoid them. While the problem is their’s and not your’s, there is also no reason to make things even more difficult. Tell the person that you will resume the conversation at a later point.
In order to relieve stress it is very important to have an outlet for it. A great outlet to lessen stress is by laughing. Laughter is known as the best medicine and it also is a great way to lower tension. The less we worry about various things the less stress we have.
Do not stress over small stuff. If you are bothered by every little thing that does not go your way, your life will be overwhelmed by stress. Little things usually do not matter in the big scheme of things. If something will not matter in a week, you should not worry about it.
If you are feeling stressed out, avoid shallow breathing. Taking short, shallow breaths can cause your heart to beat faster, and will therefore exasperate the feelings stress provides. Your muscles will also tense up, further causing your body to feel stressed. Try deep breathing instead, as it will have more positive results.
If you are looking to reduce your stress, a great way is to take a positive approach to your situation. We tend to feel the most stressed when we feel the most out of control. By taking an active role rather than a passive role in your situation, you will feel much more control over the situation, which in turn means less stress.
In order to deal with stress, it is important to make sure that you organize all of your goals on paper. This is important because you then can see where you are at and what you hope to attain, thus giving yourself a sense of power over your own purpose in life.
A good tip that can help you keep your stress levels down is to stop worrying about what other people are or are not doing. You only have control over your own actions. Worrying about what other people are doing constantly will make you feel very stressed all the time.
When you work for the greater part of your life, you may not have time to treat yourself.  One workplace stress management tip is to give yourself time to relax.  One of the things that you should do at least once during the week is to get a manicure or a pedicure. This will make you feel good about your body and relieve your tension.
Stress ends up to be in certain parts of the body more than others, residing there and building up. One of the places stress can build up is in the teeth and face. Stress puts strain on your face and also your teeth, causing certain people to grit their teeth.

Do Not Let Stress Dominate Your Life

Live your life according to the things you learn in this article and you can diminish the amount of stress in your life on the whole. There are no reassurances when it comes to advice; ultimately it’s up to you whether you apply these ideas and tips to make the amount of stress in your life decrease.

Holistic Therapy for Yeast Infections

Holistic Therapy That Will Help Cure A Yeast Infection

Yeast infections have long been known to be a most exasperating occurrence for those who suffer from them. The best way to battle this problem is to acquire thorough knowledge about what causes these infections and how they can be ameliorated. Use the holistic therapy advice in the article that follows, and you can easily do just that.
If you have diabetes, keep your sugar under control.  (For simple holistic advice on how to control your sugar levels please check out our site.)  Uncontrolled blood sugar can increase your risk of all kinds of infections, including yeast infections. If you experience frequent yeast infections, talk about your options with your doctor. You may need a prophylactic course of anti-fungal medications until your diabetes is better-controlled.
After you go swimming, you need to change into dry clothes as soon as possible. Wearing a wet bikini bottom is a big cause of yeast infections. Moisture is a breeding ground for yeast. If you cannot change or do not have dry clothes, use a blow dryer on a cool setting to dry the area and your suit.
Do not wear panty liners. The liners will absorb the moisture from your body and trap it inside them. If you do wear a liner, be sure to change it regularly. The dryer you keep your crotch area, the less likely you will be to suffer from a yeast infection.
Try to incorporate a good amount of garlic into your diet during the course of the day. Garlic is a great antioxidant that can help fight off the yeast in your body. Simply consume garlic with your food or use it to cook to get it into your diet in the day and night.   Another source of antioxidants are fresh fruits.   Try to keep them as well as garlic for a well balanced holistic diet.
Those that suffer from diabetes should take extra care to keep their blood sugar levels under control if they wish to prevent a yeast infection from occurring. If your blood sugar is too high, or too low you have a much greater risk of developing a yeast infection than someone with normal blood sugar.
One of the best ways to help a yeast infection is to incorporate at least eight glasses of water into your routine each and every day. Water can help to flush out the toxins in your body, which is important to help control your infection and help it go away rapidly.
It might not sound like it fits in an alternative health care article but, wearing fitted clothing is preferable for a lot of women because they want to be perceived as being sexy, but make sure that you do not go overboard and put yourself at risk for a yeast infection. While there is nothing wrong with showing off your curves, make sure that your clothes are not so tight in the crotch area that it makes things moist. Warm, wet areas attract yeast.
In the morning and night when you take a shower, make sure that the water you are using is lukewarm. Hot water can irritate your skin and make a yeast infection unbearable when you go to bed. Also, try to limit the time that you spend in the shower to keep your skin strong.
Yeast infections tend to form when a woman does not properly clean the vaginal area. This is why it is important that your vaginal region is clean at all times. Do not forget to clean all areas of it (including the inside folds) using a mild soap. Also, do not scrub too hard.
If you use panty liners or pads, change them often. Don’t try to save money by making a pad or liner last longer than it should; the risk of yeast infection is not worth it. Especially after exercise, it is important to put on fresh protection. The moist and warm conditions facilitated by a sweaty pad are the prime breeding ground for yeast.
Another bit of holistic health care advice is to make sure that you are getting enough sleep each night. Your immune system is what keeps the growth of yeast at bay. By taking the precautions to get enough sleep each night, you are letting your immune system do its job. This means, avoid drinking any caffeine or exercising three hours before bedtime.
Do not take antibiotics unless it is absolutely necessary. They not only kill the bad bacteria, but weaken or kill the good bacteria too. If you are on birth control pills or steroids, you may also have a higher risk of getting a vaginal yeast infection. Ask you doctor if there are alternative medications you can use.
Many women think that douching will keep the vaginal area clean and less susceptible to yeast infection. However, frequent douching can actually destroy the good bacteria that live in the vagina, leaving you more likely to get a yeast infection. Regular bathing with a gentle cleanser and thorough drying are enough to keep the area clean.
The inconvenience and frustration that often comes with yeast infections are something everyone surely wishes to avoid. In order to keep yourself free from such irritations, it is important to know a great deal about the causes and treatments of this affliction. When it doubt, refer to the information above, and you will be able to quickly get the situation under control.

Become a Certified Grief Counselor: Reality of Evil and Severe Trauma: Newtown Shootings

Grief Counseling:  The Rise of Evil and Severe Trauma

As modern and Western society continues to degrade into depths of barbarianism not seen since the Dark Ages, modern man finds himself, especially in the West, more shocked at atrocity.  Death imprints and emotional numbing to atrocity were once in the West only made from a distance via media, rarely  affectionate personally.  The necessity of Grief Counseling for more traumatic cases of grief in the last ten years suggests a change in trend.  The West is now becoming accustomed to the grief the rest of the world has known for so long.  Random shootings at malls, or most recent at Newtown has left an indelible mark on America, its people and now its children
The surviving members of the Newtown shootings, and especially the children, now share what children in Africa or the Middle East live as a daily reality.  The shock is no doubt greater because “is this not America?”  Are we not supposedly safe and preserved from such things?  But with the decline of America in every aspect except maybe military might, the domestic front has declined morally, intellectually and socially becoming susceptible to barbaric outbreaks of immense evil.  The fruits of this are now bearing their ugly faces and the new America will not be one of the past.  This unfortunate reality is only our own fault.  As we push God and morality out of the public sphere and replace it with the cult of humanism, broken families will continue to multiply, creating more broken people.
Grief Counselors will be called upon more and more in the future to assist victims.  As these cases increase, there will be an increase of traumatic grief giving way to PTSS and the need for caring and qualified professionals.  It is unfortunate, but a true reality.

Traumatic Grief

Traumatic grief is an intense grief caused by something so horrible and sudden it completely breaks the human heart.  It is most intense when caused by the hands of men without logic or reason.  The case in Newtown is the latest poster for this alarming new trend in America.  Traumatic grief can lead to a variety of future psychological maladies if not treated properly, including severe depression and PTSS.
Everyone will not encounter complications of their traumatic grief.  Only fifteen percent of the population is unable to cope and recover to a form of adaptation, but in all reality, does anyone really ever completely heal from such incidents as Newtown?  The reality is, the pain, the cross, and the tears never completely go away—and rightfully so—because there was a loss; Such a great loss that it would be an injustice to ever forget, or never to shed tears again.  If there were no tears, no natural reaction to such a tragic loss, then the loss never had any value.

Sojourner In Grief

In this way, grief counselors must teach victims of traumatic grief to embrace their pain, their tears and their cross.  It is completely natural and normal to grieve for a very long time.  One cannot even comprehend the depths of anguish one may feel due to the loss of a child.  It is something parents dare not even contemplate much less have to experience.  This is why in the first few weeks at Newtown, a myriad of emotions  will explode in the hearts of these parents.  And with initial response, grief counselors, friends or loved will have to “just be there”.  No words will ease their pain.  Simply by being there with a hug, or even through silent sojourning is the most one can do.
If the parents do wish to talk, it is important to listen.  They need to vent their feelings, whichever direction they may go.  If they express hate for the shooter, allow it.  If they sob and cry without limit, cry with them or hold them if they indicate that need.  This fluctuation will continue and should not be halted until they are ready.
The worst thing that could possible manifest is guilt.  This would be the only time, I would recommend intervention.  Very possibly, a parent may be feeling survivor guilt or even basic guilt in perhaps an argument or punishment the days before with their child.  Do not let parents “beat” themselves up over this.  Reassure them that they loved their child and their child loved them.
Also, keep in mind, these parents may also be mourning over “unopened” Christmas presents.  The parents should be allowed them to keep these gifts as they see fit.  If they wish them to remain by the tree or if they wish to store them in an attic, allow this.  In time, if complicated grieving does not manifest, adaptation will occur and these gifts will be dealt with in a healthy fashion.  Usually via commeration or a ritual.

I do not mean for this to become a mechanical guide of reactions.  It is far from it.  Every grief response is diverse but there are general human reactions that most people share.  One way to really understand the emotions of these poor parents is to put yourself in their shoes.  In this way, the only answer is love.  You would not want to be diagnosed, or told pithy sayings.  The reality is that this is not good.  This is painful.  This is evil.  There is no happy ending in this world.  Good can come from this through the mystery of God—but this is not a time to speak of these things–maybe in a few years.
Whenever crisis occurs, acute and immediate pastoral care does not involve pithy sayings, theological discussions on the problem of evil, the goodness of God and the evil of Satan, but it involves love, understanding and witnessing to the person’s grief.  Assessments are made internally upon any suicidal indications, but overall, the pastoral care and presence is one of a passive sponge, that only soaks everything in, until squeezed by the person.
While I am sure there are many religious traditions that have examples of paradigms of coping in such situations, as a Christian, I can only turn to one.  The pain of Mary seeing her own son, Jesus, executed.  Some may find solace knowing our heavenly friends have also suffered and suffer with us today.  Other may not, but to me, if this evil were to ever strike, this would at least give some solace in the waterfall of tears and emotional devastation that would afflict myself as a parent.
While this blog is not intended for the grieving themselves, but for professionals to help, I hope if any grieving parent reads this, they find solace and some peace in their agony.  We will never trivialize your grief, nor deny it, but suffer with you as one community and one nation.
For those wishing to learn more about grief certification, please review our site.  For those seeking emotional help, know you are not alone and that pastoral ministers, counseling professionals and many people care and will be glad to lend you an ear.

Children and Substance Abuse.

Children and Substance Abuse.

As society continues to decline morally, as the homes become less stable, then the children suffer.  This is what we are seeing as the turn of the century continues forward.  Children are falling prey to substance abuse.   Children and substance abuse is not a “new” problem.   Children use alcohol and drugs to deal with their problems the same way adults can.

The article, “Substance Abuse is Norm for Kids”, by Neha Das  states

“Alot of school-going children (read aged between 10-15) are falling prey to substance abuse. At an age when they should be atop swings, playing games, learning computers and languages, they are passing time indulging in substances like thinner, charas, smack, cough syrup, iodex and whitener, etc.”

Health Care Coaching for Your Child.

Health Care Coaching to Help Your  Children Be More Healthier And Fit

Health Care Coaching and proper nutrition plays a huge role in how we feel each day. It is linked to our weight, to our health, and to our energy levels. It even affects our state of mind. This article will give you some important tips about what you can do to get the essential nutrients that your body craves.
When you want to gain weight you need to do it the healthy way. When you take in more calories than you can burn, you gain weight. Fat is a common ingredient in our food and has twice the amount of calories as protein or carbohydrate. To stay healthy, you need to get your extra calories from a beneficial combination of nutrients not just from fats.
Looking for an quick and easy way to sneak those eight 8oz of water in that experts recommend you drink each and every day? Drink two full glasses of water with each meal, and carry around a 16os water bottle with you during the day to sip from occasionally.
An unknown boon to many, studies have shown that red wine is actually a healthy choice. Compared to white wine, red wine has less sugar and more healthy nutrients. Nutritionists believe that drinking one glass of red wine per day may increase your life expectancy. The same idea applies to dark chocolate.
You should eat breakfast every day so your body has the energy it needs to function. Studies have shown that people feel better and eat less during the day if they start the morning with a good breakfast. Avoid eating highly processed foods. Make sure your breakfast has some protein in it to help you feel satisfied.
When you go to the grocery store, you should take your children shopping with you at least once so that they can understand what is really in the foods they want. You can show them the label on the products and allow them to see how unhealthy the foods are and let them see why you do not want them to eat the foods.

Fruits
Health care coaching suggests eating plenty of fruits and vegetables to keep a healthy diet.

Make sure that you eat breakfast every morning. Suppose you’re writing tips for someone’s Article Builder product. If you don’t eat breakfast, you may feel sluggish and find it difficult to write well, but if you do eat breakfast, the metabolism boost will make your brain work faster and improve your writing quality.
In order to help ensure you are getting enough nutrients in your body, consider eating a wide variety of foods. Vegetables are very important as they are an excellent source of so many essential vitamins and minerals the body needs. Meat can also be a great source of iron and protein and, consequently, can be a key component in a well-balanced diet.
Try not to use dessert as a reward for eating healthy. If a child sees dessert as a reward, they’re going to think that it is the best food. This will only reinforce their desire to have sweets. If you want to use dessert as a reward, try offering fruits and other healthy foods.
Feed your body throughout the day with foods that maximize your energy and health. Three meals and two snacks or even five small “meals” which consist of fresh, organic foods will keep your system functioning at peak levels. Consistent fueling allows for a higher, more consistent metabolism which in turn keeps your weight down.
A great nutrition tip if you have diabetes and you’ve eaten too much, is to get out and exercise a little bit. We all make mistakes and if you’re a diabetic and you’ve eaten too much, there’s no need to panic. Exercise helps to keep blood sugar levels down.
Color is a key factor in choosing vegetables for good nutrition, the darker the color the better. Vitamin A can be found in yellow, orange and dark green vegetables such as pumpkin, peppers, carrots and spinach. The nutrition found in these delicious vegetables can boost your immune system function by neutralizing the free radicals that attack healthy cells.
As stated in the beginning, nutrition plays a huge role in our lives because it is what gives us the energy we need to get through the day, as well as playing a huge role in our health, weight and mood. If you take the tips given here and apply them to your life, you will be healthier and happier.

Stress Management Counseling Techniques.

Reduce Stress With These Stress Management Counseling Tips.

Being stressed out is something that everyone can identify with. Stress can be an unwelcome companion, but if you think of ways to handle it well, you won’t even notice it’s there. Being prepared helps, and that’s where this article comes in. Here are some smart stress management counseling tips to cope with stress so that it won’t paralyze you.
Massages are great in relieving stress. A massage can release the tension from your body, loosening the tight knots that have formed in your muscles due to stress. A massage improves your body’s circulation and makes it feel better naturally. Your mind can relax at the same time as your body unwinds.

Take out box
Don’t let stress take you out! Use these Stress Management Counseling Tips to fight back!

One way to manage your stress is to take an amount of money that you can do without and spend it on something completely unnecessary that you might have always wanted. This will help to clear your mind and give you a sense of power and self accomplishment.
Gastrointestinal distress is a common reaction to stress. Acid reflux, a persistent feeling of nausea, and even problems with elimination can be our body’s outward reaction to stress. Reduce the level of stress you are feeling and symptoms such as these will often be greatly minimized or even disappear entirely!
Getting plenty of quality sleep will counteract the stress of what ever your daily life brings. It sounds simple enough, but most people fail to get enough basic sleep let alone quality sleep and that is the way your body recovers from your hard day at work, keeping after the children or the million other ways you spend your waking time!
Personal finances can be one of the most stressful things a person can deal with. In this world, we are used to living above our means and this puts a constant strain on our minds and health. Our stress levels shoot through the roof as we imagine how we are going to pay the next bill everyday. Budget, and live within your means and try to take the stress of finances off of yourself.
Get a massage. Massage has long been known to decrease feelings of stress. A professional massage can relax your body as well as your mind. If you can’t get a professional massage, you can give yourself a mini-massage by massaging each palm with the thumb of the opposing hand. The pressure will relax you.
If you have tried all sorts of ways to try to control and reduce your own levels of stress, and have not been successful, it is time for you to seek medical attention. Talk to your doctor for their recommendations of stress management sessions you can attend to get you back on track and feeling in control again.
A good tip that can keep your stress in check is to make sure you’re staying busy. If you have nothing but idle time on your hands, you’ll be surprised at how quickly you’ll become stressed out. Having something to look forward to can make you more relaxed.
Breathe deeply from your abdomen. This gets more oxygen to your brain, so that you feel relief from stress quickly. Many adults breathe from their chests, which causes shallow breathing that almost invites stress. Place your hand over your navel and visualize breathing from there and watch how much more relaxed you feel.
Learn positive thinking techniques to conquer stress. When you are feeling stressful, sit down and take some deep breaths. Close your eyes and think of yourself in your favorite relaxing place. Whether it is on a beach relaxing and sipping a drink or at a ball game with your kids, laughing and having a good time. Just thinking about positive and stress free situations will make the stress go away.
To handle stress in your life, start by minimizing stress in your life. Something as simple as laying out your work clothing for the next day can give you a better start in the morning; it may give you a few extra minutes to relax as well, instead of running around looking for a stray shoe or favorite blue sweater.
A great tip that can help you keep your stress levels down is to pray. Praying can help you feel at ease. It’s also great because you can do it almost anywhere. Just a little bit of praying each day can go a long way in keeping your stress down.
Since work can be such a major source of day-to-day stress, develop your own techniques in order to leave that work stress at the office and out of your home. Whether it’s stopping on the way home to hit a few golf balls, cranking up your favorite music on the radio, or calling a trusted friend or family member, coming up with a method to tackle stress from work will keep your job obligations from invading your home.
Use these tips to start coping with stress in a better way. When you start handling stress smartly, you will see that unwelcome companion start to retreat. Take it slow and don’t let stress take over your life. Take control and cope well so you can move on in a happier way.

Christian Counselor Training: Joyous Giving and Joyous Receiving

Christian Counselor Training and Joyous Receiving

Christian Counselors many times encounter the reluctant taker.  The person who denies any help or who feels guilty if they accept any gift.  These individuals enjoy giving and are sincere but they forget the joy that others may feel when giving.   As Christians we must be joyous givers, but we also must learn how to joyously receive as well.
Our faith is based upon the greatest gift.  That gift is Jesus Christ taking the form of a slave and dying for us.  If we cannot learn to joyously accept that gift, then how we can joyously give that message to others?
During the Advent season, we see two key figures who help us accept this gift.  First, Mary who unselfishly shares her son with the world, giving up her only son for the redemption of the world.  Second, we see St. John the Baptist.  While Mary offers us Christ, St. John directs us to Christ.  He was among the first to rejoice when, as a fetus, he lept with joy in St. Elizabeth’s womb.  From that day forward, he prepared the world for the coming of the Messiah.
From this, we must spiritually accept the great gifts of God with joy and thanksgiving.  Let us also this Christmas year, accept the gifts of others with joy and gratitude.  Ultimately may we all share the gift of Christ and then spread it to others.
