Nurse-Patient Health Education Certification

Nurse Patient Educator Share life-saving healthcare knowledge and insights with every patient with the health education certification obtained from the American Institute of Health Care Professionals (AIHCP). This program provides professionals with the opportunity to significantly expand their knowledge of patient teaching principles and establish patient teaching/education as a specialty practice. This program also focuses on issues of health promotion, so that nurse-patient educators can incorporate promotion interventions in their teaching programs.

 

Health Education Certification Program Courses and Prices

Eligibility for the health education certification program requires the applicant to meet one of the three following criteria:

  • A registered nurse currently licensed to practice nursing
  • A licensed practical nurse
  • A licensed vocational nurse

The health education certification is valid for four years from the initial certification date. Completion of the course also provides access to our health care fellowship program. To get fellowship status, you must complete a minimum of 250 hours of continued education within six years from the initial application for the fellowship.

The program itself consists of five required CE courses, which will cost a total of $875 and include the courses below. After completing the courses there is a certification fee for Nurse-Patient Educator Certification of $220, plus shipping and handling, which includes the official certificate, ID card, and other related documents. Near the end of the initial four-year certification, healthcare professionals can recertify their credentials. The recertification fee costs $220, plus shipping and handling, and requires evidence of at least 50 contact hours. At least 50 percent of the logged hours must be directly related to your health education certification, with the other half dedicated to general nursing practice. In addition, nurse-patient education recertification candidates will need to have at least 500 hours of practice with the specific certification within the four-year certification period.
