CI 600 Counseling PTSD & Suicidal Clients Information

COURSE INFORMATION

This course provides greater understanding in the assessment, etiology and treatment of clients who experience PTSD (Post Traumatic Stress Disorder) and who may be suicidal. This is a guided, independent study CE Course with faculty mentoring as needed. . You are to study and progress at your own rate. This course is comprehensive and provides study on how to therapeutically treat suffers of PTSD using cognitive behavioral approaches to treatment plans. Students will learn criteria for diagnosis, assessment and the cognitive behavioral model for treatment. The second half of this course focuses on Suicidal clients, including counseling and effective interventions.

Course Code= CI 600.

Contact hours of continuing education = 50

Prerequisites: This course is particularly intended for those who are already certified as Crisis Intervention Specialist by the AIHCP, Inc.

TIME FRAME: You are allotted two years from the date of enrollment, to complete this course. There are no set time-frames, other than the two year allotted time. If you do not complete the course within the two-year time-frame, you will be removed from the course and an “incomplete” will be recorded for you in our records. Also, if you would like to complete the course after this two-year expiration time, you would need to register and pay the course tuition fee again.

GRADINGYou must achieve a passing score of at least 70% to complete this course and receive the 50 hours of awarded continuing education credit. There are no letter grades assigned. You will receive notice of your total % score. Those who score below the minimum of 70% will be contacted by AIHCP and will be permitted one more attempt to retake the online examination.
