Completing the Behavioral Holistic Health Practitioner Certification Courses from the American Institute of Health Care Professionals (AIHCP) is a critical step on your journey to obtaining your certification in holistic behavioral health. Behavioral Holistic Health CE Course Eligibility

Requisite for all Applicants for the Certification applicants/candidates for certification must meet one of the following prerequisites to enter the program:

  • A registered nurse currently licensed to practice nursing
  • A licensed social worker
  • A professional counselor
  • A licensed physician
  • A doctor of naturopathic medicine
  • A functional medicine practitioner or functional health care practitioner.
  • A bachelor’s degree or higher in health care, human services, or psychology with career experience in these areas.
  • Other college degrees and licensure may be applicable if they are in a related area. Such cases are evaluated on an individual basis.

The Behavioral Holistic Health CE courses below are offered by AIHCP, which is an approved provider of continuing education by the following states:

Behavioral Holistic Health Certification Course List

The Behavioral Holistic Health Certification Program is made up of four courses with a total cost of $800. You may enroll into as few or as many course as you wish. All of the CE courses are self paced, independent study. Students buy the textbooks, follow the syllabus and take a comprehensive online exam. Faculty mentoring is provided, as needed. Many of our courses include supplementary videos and course materials. Students have a two-year timeframe to complete all required CE courses in the curriculum. Again, all textbooks and learning materials are separate and not included in the course cost.

 

HH 500 – Herbal Remedies & Supplements for Behavioral Health

This comprehensive CE course provides a very comprehensive overview of studies, research and treatments related to herbal medicine. Students study many facets of herbal and natural medicine as it relates to the treatment of multiple conditions to include depression, anxiety disorders, bipolar disorder, attention deficit hyperactivity disorder, chronic stress, insomnia, thyroid disorder, dysmenorrhea, premenstrual syndrome/premenstrual dysphoric disorder, gastrointestinal disorders, polycystic ovarian syndrome and hyperglycemia/insulin resistance. Multiple vitamins, minerals, herbs, amino acids and other natural/physical treatments will be extensively discussed.

HH 510 – Nutrients, Biochemistry & The Brain

This comprehensive CE course provides a comprehensive overview of research, biology and nutrient treatments specifically related to brain disorders to include psychiatric illness and Alzheimer’s disease. Students study the basic concepts of brain chemistry, epigenetics and the role of nutrients in mental health.  History, theories, symptoms, biochemical classifications and studied nutrient therapies of many psychiatric illnesses extensively reviewed.

HH 520 – Holistic Body-Mind Healing

In this self-paced, online CE course, students will explore the dynamic interconnectedness of the body and mind and the ways in which physical, emotional, and psychological health influence one another. Using The Secret Language of the Body by Jennifer Mann & Karden Rabin and The Anxious Mind by Dr. Elenga, MD, as primary texts, this course provides an in-depth examination of anxiety, stress, and trauma, and how chronic activation of the nervous system leads to dysregulation as an adaptive survival response.

Students will study the spectrum of anxiety-related disorders and gain an overview of evidence-based behavioral therapies—including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and key elements of Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) such as emotion regulation and mindfulness. Emphasis is placed on Polyvagal Theory and the application of the AIR Method (Awareness–Interruption–Redesign) as frameworks for restoring nervous system balance and cultivating resilience.

Through integrative learning and self-reflection, students will discover how to incorporate holistic practices—such as relaxation techniques, self-care strategies, and lifestyle modifications—into both personal wellness and professional practice, fostering greater alignment between body, mind, and spirit.

HH 530 – Holistic Healing: Vagus Nerve Therapies

HH 530 is an advanced continuing education course focused on understanding and enhancing vagal nerve function to support stress regulation, emotional resilience, and overall mental and physical well-being. Grounded in neuroscience, autonomic nervous system theory, and integrative mind–body practices, this course explores how vagal tone influences emotional regulation, digestion, cardiovascular function, immune response, and recovery from stress and trauma.

Using evidence-informed strategies drawn from breathing techniques, mindfulness, meditation, nutrition, movement, sensory modulation, and lifestyle interventions, participants will learn practical, time-efficient methods to support parasympathetic regulation and nervous system balance. Emphasis is placed on clinically applicable tools that can be implemented in daily life or incorporated into client education and therapeutic settings.

This CE course is designed for post-licensed healthcare and mental health professionals seeking to deepen their understanding of the vagus nerve, heart rate variability, the gut–brain axis, neuroplasticity, and emotional resilience. Participants will gain a structured framework for recognizing vagal dysregulation and applying integrative strategies to promote calm, adaptability, and long-term nervous system health.

HH 540 – Holistic Healing With Mindfulness

This comprehensive, college-level continuing education course provides an in-depth exploration of mindfulness and meditation as evidence-based, trauma-informed, and healing-centered practices. The course integrates Eastern contemplative traditions with Western psychology, neuroscience, and therapeutic frameworks to support emotional regulation, stress reduction, self-compassion, and whole-person healing.

Unlike mindfulness programs that emphasize coping or relaxation alone, this course differentiates coping skills from healing skills, emphasizing therapeutic mindfulness, body-based emotional awareness, and non-judgmental presence. Learners will develop practical skills applicable across healthcare, counseling, coaching, and holistic wellness settings.
