LC 425 – Health & Life Coaching I

COURSE INFORMATION

The Life and Health Coaching I course first explores how Cognitive Behavioral plays in the coaching practice.  Specifically dealing with troublesome emotions, becoming assertive, developing persistence, overcoming procrastination, developing resilience, and taking risks and making better decisions.  Through the use of case examples, the evidence-based cognitive behavioral coaching approach helps the student learn how to help clients tackle problems and enhance personal development.  Health and Life Coaching is one part art and one part science helping others to achieve sustained health and wellness goals.  An integrative wellness approach includes mind-body tools, meditation, yoga, guided imagery, movement, sound healing and complementary and alternative healing modalities.  The second book offers such step-by-step approach to health coaching methodology, along with integrative wellness principles, theoretical frameworks, evidence-based models, coaching session formats and practice tools.  If offers both the coach and client a wellness approach to coaching a journey of self-discovery.

TIME FRAME: You are allotted two years from the date of enrollment, to complete all of the courses in the Holistic & Integrative health care practice program. There are no set time-frames, other than the two year allotted time. If you do not complete the courses within the two-year time-frame, you will be removed from the course and an “incomplete” will be recorded for you in our records. Also, if you would like to complete the courses after this two-year expiration time, you would need to register and pay the course tuition fee again.

GRADING: You must achieve a passing score of at least 70% to complete this course and receive the 30 hours of awarded continuing education credit. There are no letter grades assigned. You will receive notice of your total % score. Those who score below the minimum of 70% will be contacted by the and options for completing additional course work to achieve a passing score, will be presented.

COURSE OBJECTIVES: Upon completion of this course, you will be able to:

  7. Gain an understanding of risk-taking, decision-making and the process of making personal changes impact the individual’s life.
  8. Gain a greater understanding of health and wellness coaching, and the difference between coaching and therapy/consulting/education.
  9. Gain a greater understanding of theories and techniques of behavior change.
  10. Gain an understanding of how to prepare for becoming a life/health coach and prepare for coaching sessions.
