SM 610 Effective Stress Management

COURSE INFORMATION

This comprehensive CE course provides a very comprehensive overview of studies, research, and dynamics related to managing stress. Students study many facets of stress management, as well as major theories, process models, and other related content. Progression in the course then focuses on coping with twenty first century stress, including preventing burnout and creating a stress free life; healthy lifestyle; the trifecta of stress reduction and stress and your psychological health; and managing stressful conditions in your life (work-life balance). The nature of stress and stress management is presented to help you find information on the nature of stress, how you can identify it, what you can do to reduce most of it, manage the rest, and live a healthy, productive, stress-free life. Some stress comes from life circumstances and some from our own self creation. This course examines many different modalities and short interventions that consultants can easy apply in their practices.

TIME FRAME: You are allotted two years from the date of enrollment, to complete this course. There are no set time-frames, other than the two year allotted time. If you do not complete the course within the two-year time-frame, you will be removed from the course and an “incomplete” will be recorded for you in our records. Also, if you would like to complete the course after this two-year expiration time, you would need to register and pay the course tuition fee again.

GRADINGYou must achieve a passing score of at least 70% to complete this course and receive the 50 hours of awarded continuing education credit. There are no letter grades assigned. You will receive notice of your total % score. Those who score below the minimum of 70% will be contacted by AIHCP and will be permitted one more attempt to retake the online examination.

All examinations are formatted as “open book” tests. When you are ready, you can access the exam program at anytime and click in your responses to the questions.   7. Cite healthy vs unhealthy ways of managing stress;
  8. Apply a reality check to your perspective on stress;
  9. Evaluate your stress coping styles, and list the various categories;

  11. Cite examples of tips to increase your stress hardiness;

  13.  Discuss the correlation between exercise  and good stress;
  14. Demonstrate the correlation in sufficient sleep and stress reduction;
  15.  Describe how mindful awareness correlates with stress reduction;
  16.  Explain what is meditation and cite different types of meditation;
  17. Describe the connection between stress and psychological health;
  18. Discuss how optimism can be used as a stress reliever;
