Biographical sketch for Chaplain Scott Martin
Was born and raised near Fort Smith. Only child of Ted and Carolyn Martin, who are both deceased. My wife of almost 23 years (Mary), and our four children (Will, Marie, Caleb, and Sarah) reside in Prairie Grove.
Have been a follower of Jesus Christ since I was 15 years old, and have served as a minister of the Gospel since I was 16 years of age. Had the opportunity to serve in a number of different non-profit, faith based ministries, all of which served the needs of underserved children and their family members.
My journey as a chaplain began in the summer of 2007, when I started serving with a corporate chaplaincy ministry in Dallas, TX. Following this experience, was an 8 year season of walking with those at end of life, as a hospice chaplain in Little Rock.
Towards the end of my time as a hospice chaplain, started working as an on- call chaplain with Arkansas Children’s in Little Rock. After one year, I was invited to begin preparing to serve as the staff chaplain for what was to become Arkansas Children’s Northwest in Springdale. My family and I have lived in NWA since December of 2017.
Finally, I have had the honor of completing my Associates in Vocal Music, Bachelors in Bible, and dual Masters in Ministry Based Evangelism and Christian Education from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Fort Worth, Texas in 2006. Finally, I achieved my board certification as a pediatric chaplain in November of 2019.
It has been an honor and joy to serve at Children’s NW, and to see firsthand, the gracious support that God continues to provide through a very loving and giving community.
