This course provides participants with the opportunities to work with actual scripts, inductions and therapeutic strategies. Participants will conduct recorded practice sessions of inductions and use of scripts for therapies. Evaluations are made by qualified instructors and participants are progressed to conducting actual sessions with volunteer participants, with full evaluations by instructors. The experiential process in this course is carefully developed, guided and evaluated. Contact hours of education = 35. Course Code: HYPN 400.

This course is particularly designed for those who would like to apply for Certification as a Certified Clinical Hypnotherapist by the American College of Hypnotherapy.

This is a guided, independent study CEU Course. You are to study and progress at your own rate. There are no written assignments. It is recommended that you follow this process for completing the course:

There is No online examination for this course. This is a practicum course and grading is based on a “pass/fail” basis in relation to the defined course objectives.

There are no textbooks or required readings for this course.

If you successfully complete the two-part practicum with a passing score, we will process your CEU Certificate, which will include the course title, the awarded contact hours of continuing education, and the date of completion. Your CEU certificate will be postal mailed to you. You can expect to receive your certificate within 2 weeks of completing the online examination.

TIME FRAME: You are allotted two years from the date of enrollment, to complete all of the courses in this hypnotherapy program. There are no set time-frames, other than the two year allotted time. If you do not complete the courses within the two-year time-frame, you will be removed from the course and an “incomplete” will be recorded for you in our records. Also, if you would like to complete the courses after this two-year expiration time, you would need to register and pay the course tuition fee again.

GRADING: You must achieve a passing score of at least 90% of adherence to the course objectives (below) to complete this course and receive the 35 hours of awarded continuing education credit. There are no letter grades assigned. Scoring is on a “pass or fail” basis.

CERTIFICATION: upon successful completion of this course, you are eligible to apply for and receive national certification as a Certified Clinical Hypnotherapist, from the American College of Hypnotherapy.

PURPOSE the purpose of the clinical Practicum, Level 1, is to allow students the opportunity to utilize their skill and knowledge in Hypnosis and Clinical Hypnotherapy.  Students will develop and produce various audio or video taped sessions as outlined below.  This allows the instructor to conduct an in-depth analysis and review of the student’s competencies in applying the theory of hypnosis and hypnotherapy to actual clinical practice.

GRADING:  the required audio or video sessions are graded by the instructors on a Pass/Fail basis. Students will receive a feedback report from the instructor detailing their identified strengths in hypnosis and hypnotherapy practice, as well as any areas that may need more practice.


TAPING of the PRACTICUM students may chose to audio tape their Practicum sessions, or to use video taping.  The choice is the student’s.  When using audio tape you can use a traditional audio cassette tape, or if you wish, you can record your Practicum on CDs. Again, the choice is yours.

Level II MODULE 5-

Level II of the practicum course begins upon successful completion of level I, and instructor permission. Level II consists of completing three, recorded, complete hypnosis/hypnotherapy sessions with client volunteers. Instructor evaluation is completed on all three sessions, according to the course objectives. Students choose from a multitude of hypnosis/hypnotherapy scripts and utilize complete guidelines and defined processes for conducting sessions with clients. Students are also provided resource information for accessing additional hypnotherapy scripts.




1. Conduct an assessment interview with a client demonstrating proficiency in client interview and data gathering.
2. Conduct a teaching session with a client including an overview of hypnosis/hypnotherapy and its uses, benefits, and the experiences of a session.
3. Perform suggestibility testing on a client.
4. Induce trance in a client.
5. Utilize several deepening techniques for trance.
6. Assess a client for deep of trance.
7. Utilize scripts for hypnosis/hypnotherapy.
8. Utilize effectively an awakening technique.
9. Conduct a post-hypnosis interview with a client, assessing responses, reactions, potential benefits.
10. End a session with a client.
11. Perform self-assessment by reviewing audio recordings of practice sessions and actual sessions.
12. Complete a series of practice sessions via audio recording.
13. Complete three comprehensive sessions with actual clients, utilizing recording devices.
14. Understand and apply ethical/legal principles in working with clients.
