HL 440 Case Studies in Health Care Malpractice Consulting: Process & Applications

COURSE OVERVIEW

This final course is pivotal for bringing everything together in the building of a solid knowledge and theory base in health care & malpractice consulting practice. Students study actual cases and consulting and expert witness reports and learn additional skills related to work product for attorney clients. Effective report writing methodologies are examined. This course culminates in the actual full analysis of cases from the health care/malpractice consulting viewpoint and work product. Students conduct a real case analysis with full applicability of learned materials from the entire continuing education program of study. This course also provides the knowledge necessary to undertake the role of the the new consultant in the field of health care legal/malpractice consulting. A comprehensive examination at the end of this course allows for the student to do a full case analysis and develop a consulting report and work product. Course Code: HL 440. Students will be provided all learning materials for this course once enrolled.

TIME FRAME: You are allotted two years from the date of enrollment, to complete this course. There are no set time-frames, other than the two year allotted time. If you do not complete the course within the two-year time-frame, you will be removed from the course and an “incomplete” will be recorded for you in our records. Also, if you would like to complete the course after this two-year expiration time, you would need to register and pay the course tuition fee again.

GRADINGYou must achieve a passing score of at least 70% to complete this course and receive the (Number of Hours) hours of awarded continuing education credit. There are no letter grades assigned. You will receive notice of your total % score. Those who score below the minimum of 70% will be contacted by AIHCP and will be permitted one more attempt to retake the online examination.

COURSE OBJECTIVES: Upon completion of this course, you will be able to:

  1. Enter the practice of Health Care Legal and Malpractice Consulting with sufficient knowledge for practice at a standard required by the employment market.
  2. Practice in a variety of practice settings as a Health Care Legal and Malpractice consultant including; health care, medical and and related malpractice, expert witness role, toxic torts, product liability, insurance industry, law firms, health care related organizations, and as an entrepreneurial health care/malpractice consultant.
  3. Utilize knowledge and skills required to comprehensively analyze cases for attorney clients, or other types of clients
  4. Apply report writing skills and presentation skills for analyzed cases.
  5. Understand and practice health care/malpractice consulting with regards to high ethics and adherence to standards of practice.
  6. Prepare and develop develop marketing plans for career and business growth
