I am wondering if any of you can offer some clarification to exam question #24 The Prospective Payment System… It does (1) include subacute care, (2) reimburses care based on DRG’s; does NOT (3) reimburse based on what services were performed; (4) includes long-term care; and is (5) based on predetermined rates. The answer would then be 1,2,4,5 which is not given as an option. Am I missing something? I am using the Fourth Ed. text and the content for this question is on pg 65.
Also having a hard time finding anything in the text about #40 Intensity of service criteria which are preceded by an asterisk means:..can anyone point me in the right direction?

I could not find any information on what the asterisk means for intensity of services either.

I believe if you read again at "Preventing Death" on page 82-83, more specifically paragraph one on page 83, you might be able to understand the questions will be a little clearer.

For #24, the 3. answer can be found under the section about the ambulatory care setting, where it mentions that "a single outpatient encounter may result in the payment or one or more APCs depending on the services provided."
