Howdy from the Rio Grande Valley in deep South Texas! I’m Elaine Dispo-Rendón, and I’m pursuing my Grief Counseling certification with Pet Grief Support specialization. My career background is mostly in higher education, having taught communication, business, leadership and management courses. However, I minored in psych for my undergrad, took MFT in grad school and revealed my research results from my dissertation at the Southwestern Psychological Association, fresh from my Ph.D. Recently, I co-presented a grief and healing workshop at the SWPA convention, after having founded my ANAK KO 501(c)(3) nonprofit foundation (https://AnakKo.org) that offers emotional and financial support to bereaving families who have lost children and/or pets–which is why I seek to serve in this capacity.
