COURSE INFORMATION
The Life and Health Coaching II course begins with the principles of Motivational Interviewing including showing empathy, identifying discrepancies, the role of resistance, assisting self-efficacy, and validating and affirming “change talk”. Techniques embodied in the spirit of MI of asking open-ended questions, avoiding asking “why”, using scaling, avoiding being and expert are also covered. Coaching models are described including creating an effective coaching relationship, the power of listening and asking questions. Students will: learning how to gauge comprehend and apply the content by reflecting on personal experiences within the context coaching; using the sample dialogues to see real-world examples of coaching situations and strategies, and; learning how to apply the ICF 11 core competencies and prepare for certification in the profession of coaching.

This course is particularly designed for professionals seeking to meet education requirements for certification as a Certified Health Life Coach by the American Institute of Health Care Professionals, Inc,.

TIME FRAME: You are allotted two years from the date of enrollment, to complete all of the courses in the Holistic & Integrative health care practice program. There are no set time-frames, other than the two year allotted time. If you do not complete the courses within the two-year time-frame, you will be removed from the course and an “incomplete” will be recorded for you in our records. Also, if you would like to complete the courses after this two-year expiration time, you would need to register and pay the course tuition fee again.
GRADING: You must achieve a passing score of at least 70% to complete this course and receive the 30 hours of awarded continuing education credit. There are no letter grades assigned. You will receive notice of your total % score. Those who score below the minimum of 70% will be contacted by the and options for completing additional course work to achieve a passing score, will be presented.

When you are ready, you can access the exam program at anytime and click in your responses to the questions. Full information is provided in the online classrooms.

We also have many links to many outside reference sites, such as online libraries that you may freely access.
* Online Evaluation: there is a link in the classroom where you may access the course evaluation. All students completing a course, must, without exception, complete the course evaluation.
* Faculty Access Information: you will have access to your instructor’s online resume/biography, as well as your instructor’s specific contact information.

- Understand the spirit of Motivational Interviewing and how that distinguishes it from other standard interviewing methods.
- Understand the various stages and strategies utilized by the MI methods.
- Identifying the utility of MI in gaining client cooperation.
- Understand how MI assists the counselor in developing a working relationship with their client, set goals and accomplish tasks.
